Seeing a few folks on LinkedIn saying they will be leaving Coinbase. How has that impacted hiring. Are they holding off on hiring discussions and slowing down plans. How's that impacting morale and work culture.
I got an interview with them right now coming up and had to schedule 2 weeks out so it seems like they're pretty busy with hiring.
People are leaving because the ceo wasn't on board with BLM, and then went ahead and told them that they can either stay and stfu or leave and take a severance package. So many jumped on the opportunity to bounce with a vacation.
I think the CEO has the right idea. It’s good to be ‘woke’ and care about things but at the end of the day this is a job. It’s an opportunity that was created by someone else that took a lot of risk. The CEO is stating that office time is for work and non controversial activities. What’s wrong with that? Makes me consider going there. Even when I agree with activist employees I hate hearing about it at work. Politics and social change belong outside the office. As long as they hire based on equal merit and provide equal opportunity to those skilled enough to qualify, there’s no problem.
Coinbase refused to be woke so now they have to pay the price.
The price will be having higher quality employees who understand what is and isn't appropriate at the work place and get shit done rather than try to use work time as a political platform.
But won’t it make the workplace less diverse? For instance Netflix, G, and Twitter are extremely diverse. After all 99% of their employees’ contribution go to the party of the G-ood.
5% turnover doesn’t sound that bad, maybe a recruiter can chime in though.
They were given 6 month of severance to leave. I would jump on that offer ANYTIME at any company
Hiring is as strong as ever. We’re onboarding just as many people that are leaving/have left. Morale seems fine, I’m personally happier. Political discussions that used to happen frequently are now gone. I guess it all went according to plan.
tl;dr... company is doing incredibly well and net new growth is not slowing down at all 📈🚀 DM for referral
Are they going IPO? Layoffs before IPO to strengthen quarterly earnings? Or maybe negative effects of Armstrong saying to not be political at the workplace.
