Update: I passed but got downleveled, which is probably fair. Coding feedback was purely positive (to my surprise). Got "meh L5, easy L4" from sys design interview and it sounds like really got downleveled by EM interview I did my final round at coinbase last week for senior SWE (IC5). I can share some details about it to hopefully help some people here. Signed an NDA so won't be divulging too much. My biggest advice is to lookup other people's coinbase experiences online. A lot of it is there already. Also ask your recruiters about stuff, I found my coinbase recruiters were more willing to help me than others by giving more specific examples of question types My interviews were late last week. Recruiter just emailed me to schedule time to talk later this week after hiring panel update. Anyone know if this signals a pass/reject? I'm assuming since they don't want to talk asap, it's probably a reject? Phone screen was a LC medium that I hadn't seen before, with a broad design follow up. I felt it went decently well. Recruiter told me I passed and that there wasn't any negative feedback / things to improve Onsite was 4 rounds. 2 coding, 1 design, 1 behavioral, all an hour long I believe First coding round was similar to a question I'd prepped for. I provided optimal algo explanation immediately and coded it quickly. But my interviewer was stonewall silent through most of it and seemed uninterested. There was a "real world" follow up that I didn't quite finish perfectly, but was largely working by the end. I described test cases and complexity. I really thought this round went well except that my interviewer just seemed super rude Second round was behavioral. This ended up being more of a system design at one point. I got some of the typical behavioral questions, and have never had any issues during behavioral interviews before, but when he asked about a challenging project he kept drilling me for more and more technical detail. He then started grilling the approach I took and started offering his own suggestions for how to do it. He originally said he had about 6-7 questions for me but we only did like 3-4 because we spent so much time on technical details. I guess that's fair game, but it seemed kind of weird. I imagine I got poor feedback here Third round was design. This was pretty comfortable for me as I'd prepped for it. It wasn't a distributed systems microservice kind of thing but a more practical tech design simulation. I didn't get a lot of feedback from my interviewer during my explanations so it was hard to tell when I was being too detailed / not detailed enough, but I think I covered all the bases and we wrapped up well Fourth round was coding. I hadn't seen the question before or anything like it before. Despite that I think I did pretty well. It had several follow ups. I think they were roughly LC easy, LC easy, LC medium extension, LC medium same spirit but unrelated code. I got positive feedback during the round and finished early so I think I did well here again Overall, I think I probably will get rejected because of the first coding round and probably a very negative behavioral round Coinbase says they don't negotiate so what you see on levels.fyi is accurate, with some variation for your area's cost-of-living adjustment Current TC: 200k YOE: 5 #coinbase #interview #feedback #experience
Did you have a code signal screening round? Just received one, wondering if its typical LC med or not.
i did not. i think my process was apply through website, wait a week or so for response from recruiter, then phone screen
Interesting. I’m interviewing for IC4 maybe that’s why. How was the phone screen?
Do they ask Coding + system design in phone screen?
I had no Sys design in my phone screen as IC4
Rashford, do you share some of the same sentiments as OP regarding what we see online being similar to the interview?
How did it go? Were you rejected in the end? I’m in a similar situation and I have a call scheduled after the final interview. Curious to know what your experience was. Unsure what to expect from the follow up call.

Coinbase asks same sets of five questions in most of the interviews. So there isn't much room to decide which candidate did better. It boils down to how much dumb they felt during the interview. If you feel you had the upper hand, you will be hired.
Not true, just finished interviewing with them and i only got one question that was online.
Where can I find those 5 questions?
