High of $353 in November 21. Down over 50% since. Ouch.
2022 grant price for everyone is under 200
Coinbase employees became decamillionaires off the IPO, doubt they care what happens to the price now.
Not for those who joined near Ath. So not everyone is paying 5 mill plus all cash for houses
I would be. Doesn’t Coinbase make a lot of money from high transaction cost buying/selling crypto? If that’s the case, that won’t be sustainable. I also think their app and website is subpar compared to other trading platforms. I also think discount traders like Etrade and TD Ameritrade could easily get into crypto in the future. I just don’t see what competitive edge Coinbase has besides it’s the legit first mover. Also, I think it’s more based on attracting similar clientele as Robinhood who invest small amounts of money. So, I’m not too bullish on Coinbase. But who knows. They may have things up their sleeves that they’re about to release that’s revolutionary. Or, they just execute very well. Or, they get lucky with some things. Who knows.
Comparing coinbase with Etrade is like AWS with IBM cloud 😎 I may be wrong 😊
Really? I’m not sure what is special about utilizing Coinbase to saying it’s like AWS to IBM cloud. I’m not understanding the analogy here besides that Coinbase is a newer player like AWS and ETrade is older and trying to adopt to the new world. But what does Coinbase bring that others can’t easily do? They make money now with very high transaction cost buying/selling crypto. Competitors could easily do that. Also, Etrade actually does have clients that invest substantial amount of money. Does Coinbase? Also, it’s hard comparing Coinbase to AWS as I think their platform is super weak. It’s not that user friendly to me.
Coinbase gives yearly grants post dpo - so only pre ipo folks have grants above 190
Is it worth joining now?
COIN has performed much better than other tech darlings. Interesting, this time crypto doesn't seem like a bubble. NFTs are for sure a bubble but crypto is marching on. Google trends search "Bitcoin". It's strong and remains relevant in many public discussions about economy, security and trust. It seems to me like Bitcoin is migrating it's way deeper into society. It also seems to be bipartisan which is rare nowadays.
Coinbase sucks - coming from an employee
Sucks how?
Yeah how?
Coinbase stock is correlated to BTC price
Reality check for you as an employee : CB stock is subject to far more variables than Bitcoin. - executive selling - revenue/earnings - s&p -Bitcoin price Proof: Bitcoin price fell by 1.5-2% past Friday. Coinbase fell 8-9%. Wake up and stop letting CB execs fools you
Also blackout windows
I’m not. Haven’t heard any concerns from teammates either.
The employees that got RSUs at 300s will they get more RSUs to maintain their TC.
