When I joined Amazon through a college program, we were all told the pay is non negotiable and the same for the entire cohort. We never had a set position until weeks before our start date and did a survey with preferences / location etc.. I come to find out there are some members of the cohort in the same position/ same location making much more than the rest of us. I contacted HR and got the run around about experience/job codes being different and a bunch of other reasons as to why my pay is different. The fact is that we all joined through a program that told us we all made the same. Is this normal? What can I do about it now that HR told me there is nothing to be done.. I feel jipped and over worked and my 63k post split 700 RSUs .. I am barely surviving and I’m in debt.. need a miracle
This is why HR says to keep your salary info to yourself lol. I had the same situation and HR shut me down. Basically my answer was leaving the job. My advice would be to ask as much as possible and accept what make sense to you
I think it’s good to talk about what your peers make haha.. exposes certain discrepancies.. not the best for your mental health I guess
I feel you. Kinda sucks how HR will shut down whatever I said too. It’s what it is. Just move on. Better things ahead 😊
Job code moght be the answer. Is it a new hire program that brings on a variety of job families from Machine learning/Software engineering all the way to operations? If so, assuming positive intent, the answer might be: salaries are the same for everyone with the same job code.
Always negotiate, even when they tell you in some blanket statement that they don't. Amazon is notorious for underpaying non-tech roles that come through college/grad school recruiting pipelines.
Is your TC 63k ? What role and which location? In any case, I highly doubt you can do anything. Best to start interviewing and get out of that shithole!
63 salary sorry
