Hello, I have seen people criticizing Amazon as hell and I personally feel it’s true also that they make you work like robots. As I am fresher about to start as SDE 1 in one month should I take it the way that I will work hard for few initial years at Amazon then I can switch to other high TC companies like Facebook or google . I work for Amazon as intern and I was shocked to see people: I felt like all having soo stressed due to work , sleepless nights, health issues Now I came to know about fucking PIP Is it easy to switch from Amazon to big TC after you start working in hell ?? #offer #tech Any suggestions???
It will be tougher for you than now. Now you have time to prepare. After joining you have to work round the clock.
Agreed but right now I am not getting calls from them . Is it easy to get call for interview if you work for Amazon?
Yeah, that's true. I have seen a lot of people, joining Amazon and then just struggle for sde 2 position. It's a honey trap.
Work hard, you can learn a lot at Amazon. Just don’t stress yourself out if you do get PIP, usually it’s not your problem if you do get PIPed at Amazon.
PIP is usually if I am not able to deliver them ?
Not necessary. Sometimes bad managers find all kind of reason to PIP you.
Totally depends on the team, don't get me wrong there are definitely horror teams at Amazon, but there are also plenty of good ones.
PIP = Performance Improvement Plan ❌ Preparing-for-Interviews Period ✔️
I dont want to discourage you, but unless you work well in the sink or swim type environment, Amazon as a new grad is going to be overwhelming. I joined as L5 experienced external hire, but my previous roles at startups and SMBs have taught me this type of culture (it took years, not overnight). I can see why new grads get mass hired and fired(PIP) because its difficult to navigate an environment like this if you arent prepared or know how to. But if you are able to survive here, you'll have the skills to survive basically anywhere.
I agree with you that’s why I am thinking to learn as much I can in Amazon in one or two years and then switch.
Sure, if thats the plan then go for it.
Chill dude, you haven't even started yet haha. I started as a new grad a few months ago and have been fine. I work 35-45 hours per week and have a great manager and team. The only reason you see people complaining all the time about amazon on here is because it's a massive company so obviously there will be more bad stories than other companies. Again, chill. And good luck, you'll be fine.
Thanks 😃 and what’s that fucking PIP , it looks like it’s so common by reading post on blind? Is it true
Yes, to leave within a year!
Yes just prep hard for interviews.
I have heard Facebook is same as Amazon in terms of work pressure only diff is they pay you more ? Right
The WLB is better on average and pay/perks is way better.
