Commute options from South Bay to SF
I live in Sunnyvale, near Caltrain station but not walking distance. I also have a car. What's the best way to commute to embarcadero Bart? I would be going once a week. Edit: I can also take a Lyft ebike from SF Caltrain

Another option: get on San Jose Bart station in berryessa. One train all the way

You can take the Bart form San Jose now
I’ve used CalTrain for my commute up to the city and 99% of the time it worked perfectly and I really enjoyed it. The risk with CalTrain is if something goes wrong the trains can come relatively infrequently and it would suck to be stuck halfway up the bay with a bike. My recommendation would first be driving to Millbrae and then the biking option with CalTrain
