Commute time from San Mateo to SF

My wife and I are planning to commute from San Mateo to SF (SoMa) by car. How much time does it take in the morning 7A? Trying to understand how much time we will be spending on commute. We are considering Caltrain too.

Why not Caltrain?

Sure we did consider that. Let me update

Caltrain is the best solution here by a mile

45-50 mins. In evening anytime after 4 will be 60-80mins.

Thanks. Surprised even in the morning 7 it can take 50 minutes

No way it’s that long. And estimate is definitely not true for the pm. It all depends on which part of San Mateo you live in and which part of Sf you go too. 7am and 4pm are good times for commute.

Which part of San Mateo we don’t know still because we are searching.

Problem with taking a car to SF in a regular basis is parking on game days. Caltrain is really good in the times you specified. Trains between 4-5pm back to San Mateo is very good.

Thanks. Yeah. Especially my work is near ATT park. So I can imagine how much difficult it can be. We would like to do Caltrain during those days.

You walk from caltrain to ATT Will be literally a 'walk in the park'

Should be around 25-40 minutes(mostly 35 would be max, expect 40 sometimes), it takes about 55-70 minutes from Mountain View. These estimates would be totally off if you live in foster city

Got it. Thanks for providing the estimation.

Check on Google Maps. Commutes on the peninsula are just terrible now. Try to stay close to Caltrain or BART where possible.
