Hi All, I need your help in negotiating compensation for VP position in Morgan Stanley for NYC location. I have 12 years of experience in C++ development. I interviewed with them last week. Recruiter(3rd party vendor not that of MS) updated me last Friday that the feedback is positive and called yesterday to discuss the numbers. Earlier I quoted a base of $180k-$200K. In call yesterday he is saying this team can do $180k-$200K with a TC of $230K-$240K. I responded since my interview I have been doing my research and it is fair to expect a base of $230k-$250K base. Recruiters response was that is way off. This team doesn't pay that much. (I read posts in past and gave this number based on that. Assuming I can get $220K as base). We decided, I will sleep over it and get back to him in 24-48 hours. Now recruiter is saying MS is going on a hiring freeze (this was mentioned in yesterdays call too. 'Good that we got you before hiring freeze') and how they have positive feedback for other candidates you interviewed yesterday. I have been under-paid for a very long and I want to get a good TC. At the same time I am hesitant to let go of this offer. I have been speaking to this recruiter since quite sometime and I know for fact that this person gets very pushy. I am on H1b visa with approved i140. If anyone can provide insight on how soon MS processes greencard will be helpful. Please help. #morganstanley #vicepresident #newyork #c++ #
