Companies Don't have a Freaking clue what their hiring as Product Manager or Product Owner.

This is a rant so be Warned ⚠️! Companies have no clue what they are hiring these days. Most Banks have Business Analysts in the Scrum team who are actually product owners because there is no concept of BA in scrum teams. Then later changed to Product Owner and now they are using the word, Product Manager. All doing the same roles and responsibilities. I used to work for some of these banks as a Product Owner in the same role but was not considered fit enough because now the banks call the same role Product Manager and can't even pass the initial screening. 2nd issue had some of my colleagues who used to report to me in my team now VP and ED. And I was fortunate enough to see some of these profiles, half was marketing bullshit. Brought in this much fake revenue, improved user experience by this fake percentage, Managed this many people so on. None of these numbers were true. And some decisions they had not been involved in but maybe involved in the delivery. I compared my profile with theirs and they sounded like a director and I looked like the guy who worked for them. Anyway, kudos to my colleagues for doing well, and honestly happy for them and appreciate sharing their profiles. And I don't fault them and am actually more angry at myself. None of these facts can be verified and if companies are willing to give credence it’s their fault. E.g on profile says he convinced Samsung to do changes to integrate their payments into our app. But actually, we were on their list of vendors they were going to support anyway but we had to wait our turn. LOL Most of these people have limited real-world experience, and just write over-marketed and fake CVs and watch YouTube videos to answer all the questions. And I have 14 years of experience working in every domain, every technology, one of the most certified individuals you come across with above 20 verification, in Scrum Master, Product Owner, AWS, Data Science to name. But I can’t seem to get one of the big companies to even consider my profile. But I do get approached by enough of tech service companies. And all I get from this is companies need just bull shitters, who go to work and just put tik tok videos out the day in a life of a tech company. And people who are smart, hardworking, and capable of doing great things are left out because we can’t market ourselves or refuse to pander to this bullshit. Me trying to get a tech company or big company to consider me is like A Tech nerd trying to ask a Victoria Secret model out. Instead, they rather Date Adam Levin and get cheated on lol. I know there are hardworking good talented PMs out there and kudos to you guys. What are your thoughts people or am not seeing something? #pm #product #productmanager #google #microsoft #chase #americanexpress #bankofamerica #facebook #meta

It's a rant written off a mobile phone in a few mins, not publishing material. Just put my ideas as soon as I thought of them. But took some time to correct now lol.

You are in the first room. If you stay in that room long enough, are smart enough, or just get lucky you will find a tiny door that leads to the second room. There are 7 rooms in all. You're stuck in the first room because you expect the door to be obvious. It won't be.

Best way to get calls for big tech is through referrals & remember your resume should reflect what u want to be & being able to sell yourself is one critical quality needed to get into big tech especially for product management.
