I have been on both sides of interviews over my career. I feel the quality of resume we received from Europe/Latam is nowhere close to the quality we have in the USA. (Random institution+ random degree + unknown companies+ lower job scope + career breaks + non proficient English.) We have extended offers to folks who wouldn't get a "view" if they were located in the USA. India & China too is a lower bar than the USA, although better than the rest of the world. Are we just prioritizing DEI/Cost over actual merit. I am avg judging no hire to most candidates as they are not SWE in the traditional sense. Why not hire USA citizens/immigrants with excellent degree+ stellar careers. Why are we willing to "try out" randoms?? I'm talking about the average case scenario. Yes there are superstars in other parts of the world, not everyone in USA is good. Is this just my experience or is it industry wide. I have interviewed for 3 companies and attempted for ~40ish over my career. All yoe in USA. #tech
When people in rest of the world want to quit often times employers can keep them by offering visa to US. This is one reason the best eventually end up in the most HCOL best paying places.
I believe Europe pays better than India. But Indian candidates are definitely superior to European candidates.
