Recently, observed that many companies including Oracle and t-mobile have multiple openings explictely calling out that visa sponsorship not available. Is it becoming common? Which companies are going with this approach?
I wasn't paying much of attention since I am not on visa but noticed that Zoom and NewRelic said "no visa sponsorship" for senior SWE roles. I also would assume there is no serious shortage of resources on the market that don't need visa and can start in few weeks after accepting an offer rather than few months, and 1st is more preferable for most, not mentioning extra cost and risks.
I do see your point, but I think USA is so ahead in terms of innovation as compared to other countries is because of letting these people on visas from different parts of the world with different background and experience work together to build an awesome product.
Like Facebook wouldn't have been at its current place if it didn't hire people on visas
A lot of those roles are specific to gov cleared

Has Google lost its soul?
It's a real pain for companies to sponsor visas. They have to get legal involved etc. they can easily find qualified candidates that don't require one. There're also minimum visa washes, constantly changing restrictions that don't affect citizens/green cards. I'm curious of the argument for sponsoring visas.
