Asking for a girlfriend. Does anybody have any good recommendations on career sites to look for companies who will sponsor H1B visa candidates for HR positions. preferably companies who will allow her to work remote most the time. Or recommendations on good companies to look at in Bay Area or San Diego area? thanks!
Send her to Canada for a year , and then let her enter US on L1 visa.. I think that's the only possible way.. I am not sure..
Marry her.
haha well..I'd be lying if I said we hadn't thought about it. trouble is we have only been dating about a year and I already got married too young the first time. I would rather wait a while before making that same mistake again. LOl
I've heard the same from my H1B friends. There are no companies doing transfers or new H1s
We can't even get working visitor visas at the moment, for visits of less than two weeks... 75% of them are being denied (from India to USA)
This is close to impossible. Is your girlfriend a spectacular HR person who built a company's culture? H1B is a lottery and can cost 5-7k to apply, also u have to wait months to hire her. Unless she's alr working at the company or on f1, it's not possible.
Are the other visa types that are easier to obtain? What about the fact she already had one before? She was already here working on an H1B last year, that's how we met. But then she got laid off from her job with no notice when it was getting time to renew her Visa and they didn't bother renewing her visa
L1 or E2 is probably her best bet. my wife had to take an internship visa (J1) to kill 1 year. Fortunately we just got approved for a green card so she'll know be able to take up a real job. edit: she could also enroll for a degree get an OPT and then give the H1B a go. Local graduates definitely have higher chances because there are 20k H1Bs reserves for them every year. also educational (like universities) and profit organizations can get quota free H1Bs.
Erroneous. L-1 visas are for intracompany transfers and E-2s are for investors.
It would be highly improbable a company would even be able to get an H-1B for a remote employee, because they must show they can not find a qualified American worker. How can a company say the position could be remote and they could not find a qualified authorized worker anywhere in the US? The whole spirit of the working visa program is to make safe the American worker. Additionally, with the expected changes in the employment visa landscape, obtaining sponsorship for non-STEM positions is extremely difficult. Although I am involved in some of my company's visa situations, I am not a visa expert. Have your girlfriend reach out to an immigration attorney and see what her options are.
All but non existent right now
:( I was afraid so.
