My first job was a small startup and we didn't have stand-up. I loved that and still can't get over how much I hate standups many years later. Are there any decent-paying companies that don't do any stand-ups? Basically, they won't start "checking in" with you for "status" updates until they notice that you're slacking?
Some teams at Microsoft still do waterfall (particularly those that ship box products like Windows and SQL) so no standup in those teams
Ahh awesome thank you
standup means daily? Then we don’t
Awesome, how often do you meet then for status updates?
2 times per week
I've worked before stand-ups were a thing and they actually eliminated a ton of random meetings and manager hovering. Be careful for what you wish for. Or just watch Office Space for a view of that era.
I didn’t have so much an issue with manager hovering before stand ups. We did have to do a weekly report of what we accomplished though and that sucked ass.
Google has weekly check-ins so you can slack off 1-2 days but you'll need to put in earnest work 1-3 days a week to match your colleagues level of output. Maybe you are a genius, but slacking off more than 2x a week is unheard of in my circles.
Facebook Google
No stand-ups ever? Do managers check-in with engineers then?
Facebook, Apple, Google. Daily stand ups are a waste of time.
Youre basically asking where you can fuck around the most? Microsoft.
Wish that were the case. My team has a 1 hr standup every day
Holy shit 1 hr every day? I get annoyed when we go to 15 minutes, which is often.
