I am trying to curate a list of companies that have good infra/distributed systems SWE roles (not to be confused with DevOps/SREs). I am going to list some I know, please list more in the comments: AWS/Azure/GCP Databricks Confluent Cohesity Nutanix Facebook infra (?) #engineering #software #swe #amazon #microsoft #google #facebook
Datadog
Salesforce
Rofl
Salesforce has a cloud org which works on distributed services like message queue, service mesh, load balancer, cache, spring, etc. I guess it's called kernel cloud. much better than doing feature work even at Google 😂
Apple Cloud Infrastructure
ScyllaDB Rockset and Redpanda - god of all - google technical infrastructure team
Datastax Influx Data
Can anyone shed light on Nutanix vs Cohesity, in this direction?
I would go for cohesity looking at stock performance, but I don't know much apart from that.
Yugabyte, Rockset, Clumio, MongoDB, CockroachDB, Airtable, Datadog, and all of the big companies will have specific teams I guess
in your mind what's the biggest difference between infra SWE and DevOps/SRE?
Infra swe codes the system
then how do you know your coded system is not shitty?
Rubrik
Uber/OCI
Do you mean infra roles at Uber (compute platform, data platforms, etc). Have heard about good work there. Can you shed more light on it if you have more idea?
