Worked at Microsoft, Amazon, and Zillow. By far the company with the better internal or productivity tools is Zillow. I think the reasons are 1) Zillow don’t waste time trying to build internal tools, 2) they are not limited by using/dogfooding their own tools created or avoiding competitor tools. Internal tools I am referring to common set of stuff companies use to collaborate. Google/O365 suites, jira, zoom, slack, qualtrics, asana, AWS, tableau,… Thoughts on companies you have pleasantly surprised by their internal tools or the opposite?
I find Apple internal tools quite good. The problem is some people/teams not wanting to adopt them so they stick to dumb stuff like iMessage
We still use notes for email 🤢
Amazon’s “tools” are barely worthy of the name.
MS ? 😂😂😂 just because you have many tools doesn’t mean they’re good
Google has good SWE tools
Nvidia tooling is pretty bad in the Tesla org. Building and testing are a pain (kernel). Not even starting on debugging.
