I’m looking to leave red hat, but I’m stuck for now since the insurance is really freaking good. Not to mention red hat is mostly a remote company…for now. With our last baby on the way this year I been struggling with my current team but I need to look elsewhere. I’d like to keep my TC somewhere along my current but willing to leave 12k of of unvested RSU and max 20k deduction. YOE: 7 TC: 165k + 15% bonus RSU: 20k
what is your yoe?
Just interview with places that offer more money and who cares about insurance if you’re adding 50-100k per year income
Seriously, based on levels.fyi you’re probably senior. What location (based on “mostly remote” I assume you’re near an office) If it’s Boston area or New York, you can get a tooonn more money without moving. Raleigh idk
I am in a mid cost area that is not near any offices but IBM culture creep is there for sure.
Insurance in most tech companies are good and the change in tc as others pointed out would more than cover for the difference
surprised redhat gives stocks.. are you a manager there? or ic?
High performing IC
I would expect most tech companies to have comparable insurance and if its really a concern for you would investigate on a case-by-case basis for positions you are interested in. You could try to use unvested RSUs as leverage for a signing bonus. Personally I would be hesitant to join a new company with a new baby on the way, but our circumstances may be very different.
I left Red Hat for a year and also had a baby. They were $12,500 out of pocket and 2 weeks leave split. Came back to RH and had my second and they cost $1000 and I got 8 weeks contiguous leave. Stay until you have a kiddo.
Guys at Redhat Canada. Any idea what are the extended health care insurance in Canada?
