My company said everyone is getting a 15% paycut for 2 months starting in April. Manager confirmed I’m impacted. I inspected my last paycheck more closely and saw that I actually recieved my typical pay without the pay reduction. I’m not sure if I need to report this to my manager or HR, or pretend nothing’s wrong, or assume my next paycheck will account for this error.
Personally, I would say anything unless you work in the HR department. That’s just me and if it gets brought up I would just say it’s payrolls job to do the necessary deductions not for me to bring it to you’re attention. I used to work in HR like legit less that 3 was ago and if we did that to an employee and the employee pushed back we wouldn’t do anything but make the correction next paycheck
Don’t say anything, it’s their job not yours
Be honest. If it was a clerical error it’s not like you’ll be able to keep the money anyway just because it was their mistake. There are many ways they can easily claw back that money and it will just reflect poorly on your character.
Usually the paycheck for April 1 is for the work in March 1-15. Did you check the pay period?
May be april fool joke ?
Agree with moosepuck, at least if it happens again. I’ve heard stories of people getting fired in situations like this (granted, it was after they let it go on for a while or had a major error like an extra zero). they’ll likely figure it out at some point anyway, and you’ll feel better if you’re the one to point it out.
If you are on H1B, you might not get a pay cut.In 2009 some companies did cut pay but H1Bs continued to get paid full salary. My understanding is this may be because by reduction in pay they might go below LCA certified salary.
