Company informed there were layoffs and I’m included in that. Offering severance of 1 month. Can you typically negotiate that? Never had this happen before. #severance #layoff Edit: TC: 300k Don’t want to add company in hopes I can negotiate more
Sorry to hear that OP. Which company?
Smaller player in data space. Don’t want to name it in event I can somehow negotiate more.
Sorry but which company?
which location?
I’m in Southern California
Isn't there 8 week minimum in CA?
How long was your tenure in there? In my experience, the severance package depends on the location (labor laws) and your tenure
Which company?
guys, company name is “not Oracle” and doesnt pay anything(TC missing)
Edited (300k tc)
I negotiated additional severance for COBRA coverage. It helps if you were a high performer. Increased lump sum severance substantially.
That’s good to know
Which company? Why is OP scared? Do I thinks HR is looking at your blind?
Maybe. Rather not risk it
I understand maybe it’s a couple of folks affected then it’s easy to know who the person is with a 300k comp
Pinterest?
Yes you should be able to negotiate severance duration
Why would you be able to negotiate. Severance is a courtesy and not a requirement in the us
Don’t give wrong statement. Severance is a courtesy. Negotiations could only happen while you sue them for reasons.
