Compass IPO
I interviewed at Compass in early 2020 but didn't like the offer and declined it before even negotiating. The initial offer that I got back then was : Title: Senior Software Engineer I Base Pay: $167,000 Equity (RSUs): $180,000 (over a 4 year vesting period). This is approximately 1,166 stock units. There was some refresh equity as well, which I don't remember I am looking at Compass stock price today, it's trading at ~20$ If I calculate Compass stock price based on my offer - 180000/1166 = ~154$ Is my calculation wrong ? Or has Compass stock actually been such a disappointment ? I see that Compass has done a downsized IPO - https://nypost.com/2021/04/01/real-estate-giant-compass-valued-at-8-2b-in-nyse-debut/. Zillow has done good. Compass is also into real estate I would imagine they would do better. Both these companies operate very differently so the scale of success for Compass will be different too.
Their July 2019 valuation was at 6.4B so looks like it didn't raise that much since then. I think they started trading around 7-8B on April 1st https://news.crunchbase.com/news/compass-raises-370m-as-increasingly-crowded-real-estate-space-heats-up/
In hindsight, it was a wise decision to not go with compass
OP it may be better to compare: Valuation of Compass at the time you were awarded in 2020 vs Valuation now ($7.37B) Because as you did mention, there could be a stock split, but how would us being external know how much each stock split?
So after the 10x split your offer was worth $15.4 per stock, today it's trading at $17.2
