I'm planning to join Compass. I'm curious how their refreshers work. Let's say they give 120k, would I get 30k immediately vested and rest over the next 3 years or will I have to wait an year for the first vest? Current TC:450k

Yes, and it stacks, so 2024 you’ll get 30k + 30k from the previous grant

The stock price might be low now(8) but the expected median by experts is 19. The company is aquiring other companies to expand it's reach. Definitely risky, but the reward is greater.
30k per year each year. you get 1/4 per year. first chunk comes end of first year then every 3 months.
Refreshers at Compass are 4 year grants that vest quarterly over those 4 years. There is no cliff on refresh grants like there is on initial equity grants. So if you're given a $160k refresh grant, in 3 months you'll vest $10k, then another $10k 3 months later, and another $10k 3 months later, and so on and so forth for 16 quarters AKA 4 years. They do stack year over year though. So if you keep receiving annual $160k refresh grants, after that happens 4 years in a row you're now vesting $40k each quarter as a result of the previous 3 years worth of grants stacking on the new one. The amount you receive in a refresh grant depends on your level and performance review. A performance review of "meets expectations" gives you 1x the expected amount, the next level up is 1.5x, then 2x, and 3x. If you don't get expectations it might be 0.75x or even 0 altogether.

Didn't know they can pay competitively to someone already at 450k!! What level are you joining @? They give 25% after first year and then 25% every year but it vests quarterly. They also stack refreshers, I think it was 140k for my level which again vest quarterly
I'm on the management side. For stock refreshers, would you get 140k/4 right after you get the award or have to wait a quarter to get it
You will own the first split of your stock grant 3 months after it is given to you.
