Hello fellow community members. I needed your help in answering a question the recuriter has posed for me. I am looking at a position with Amazon for a Risk Manager, and the recruiter has asked me about my compensation expectations. Below is the information you may find helpful in answering the question. division - consumer title - risk manager location - Seattle Any insights regarding what the minimum base, RSU, sign in bonus, relocation and TC is highly appreciated.
Your expectation is market.
Thank you for your comment. I have tried going this route but the question has resurfaced a 3rd time. I have already made the on-site list, so I think asking for the comp range may be the best option. What do you think?
I would ask, there’s no harm, especially if you’re coming from a different city or industry and don’t know the market rate.
I looked up this req internally, and if I found the right one it is an L5 in Seattle. The job ladder is Risk Manager, which I’ve never heard of before. It looks similar to Business Analyst, but presumably it’s not the same else it wouldn’t have its own ladder. Look at levels.fyi to see the likely range.
Thank you for your help sir!
End up getting an offer?
Avoid talking about comp at this stage if you can. Prepare some answers that are polite but avoid telling the recruiter what you earn today or what you want from this job. If you say too low you risk a low-ball, too high and you risk getting dropped. If pressed, ask what the range is and then say you can work with that without getting specific. When the HM decides they want you, that’s the time to start talking comp.
