After you get a FAANG offer, how do you approach communicating competing offer? Candidates: Do you go ahead "I have an offer X from company Y, can you match"? Or do you have a different approach? Recruiters: How do you make sure a candidate isn't mentioning competing offers just to get a TC bump without actually having any? Is it common to ask for proof for offer letters prior to ok'ing a raise? TC: 300k #engineering #software #swe #offer #compensation #microsoft #amazon #google #meta
G Recruiter: how much do you want? Me : whats the range? Recruiter: can't tell you. Me: Fine, facebook told me xyz. Recruiter: that's too much. Me: uh, can you try. The next day I got 10% over the Facebook.
I typically say what I am looking for after I see all the offers. When they push back, I mention that the other company already is paying x, and that I would like to see a good difference or something of that sort. Apart from Amazon, nobody asked for the offer. I didn't share my offers with Amazon fwiw and they didn't match until after I accepted.
Can you elaborate on the last part? Amazon didn’t match until you provide the offer, you didn’t. Then you accepted another offer and Amazon wanted to match that offer? What was the recruiter’s response when you refused to share the offer? Did you try “I received verbal offers instead of written ones”?
They do ask for proof of the offer
