I have a friend who has been interviewing for government/private/public sector work. Two companies have gotten to the point of talking about making a job offer. My friend asked for salary ranges for both of these positions. One is a government contract where they initially sent over a benefits worksheet and after one interview verbally wanted to make an offer of 150k. (Senior role) My friend asked if they were willing to negotiate on salary to 170k.This company was willing to see if they could make 170k work. The second company is a company that works but commercial and government contracts. When asked about benefits their response was “that is confidential information and won’t be disclosed till an offer is made”. Interviewed twice and continued to rave about the how interested they are in bringing on my friend. (mid-level role ) They said the salary range for the position was 100k-180k and they were more than okay with 170k ask. There is no verbal offer. They asked for feedback before extending an offer since there is another offer on the table. The recruiters are concerned with the company now matching the initial 170k ask but want to potentially change the mid-level role to senior. Also disclosed they were interested in another candidate just not as much as my friend. My friend has 7 years government experience in software development & digital forensics/hunt analyst. MS degree. GIAC IAT III certified. Is it common to not disclose benefits? Ask for feedback before extending an offer? Not hear about an offer after a month? I would think they would have sent her an offer even if they weren’t the top since they really were impressed with the interview. Are they trying to run the clock down on the other offer? #offer #tech
