Competing offers for Google
I got HC approval for L5 (interviewed for L6) and have couple of competing offers (MS, Qualtrics, Twitter) but Google recruiter doesn't want to honor Qualtrics offer as they largely pay in cash and asking for more competing offers to get to close to 500K range. MS and Twitter doesn't come close to Qualtrics offer so wondering which other companies folks had success from to get high offers from Google ? @Google TC: 345K (SDE3) Yoe: 10
I think Goog considers facebook, Airbnb and Uber as good competing offers
dont believe what google recruiter says, i had competitive offer from other fangs for 500k, they couldn't bulge beyond 400k. They might give you better vesting for first 2 years but overall tc will be not change

Check levels.fyi . Many L5's do make more than 500k TC
With stock appreciation and refreshers, sure. Levels is full of a lot of bad data. I promise you L5 doesn’t get 500k as a base offer lol.

Google offered me $305k for an L5 SWE (machine learning engineer) role. So naturally I rejected it. Amusingly, I worked there previously at L4 in Google Research and was making $315k. Not particularly interested in returning to Google when they're making these kinds of lowball offers.
