Considering a position in confluent as a Software Engineer. Interested in knowing some details. 1. How is confluent and the work culture there? 2. When could it possibly go IPO? 3. Growth in confluent? 4. Any risk of joining in h1b
Stay away
Any specific reason? Have you heard/know of bad experiences?

Modi is a legend, will be remembered for centuries to come
I know a lot about this company. They have a great technical culture, but I think they will get acquired instead of going IPO. They have been growing really well in terms of brand name logos and revenues, but the revenues still did not match up with their valuation. They don’t spend wildly, and for any non-core engineering positions, they’re willing to consider remote candidates and pay them a lower salary to save on Bay Area costs. As an engineer, you should not be worried about getting laid off, even though you’re on H1B. I would say there’s a bigger chance of you losing your job in the next recession at VMware then at confluent.
Also startup experience will be wildly different from VMware.
Thanks for your detailed response. My worry regarding h1b was mainly the new policy of removing RFE and how risky is a H1B transfer right now.
