I have 4+ years of experience and I graduated with a master’s degree in Dec’23. Meta has a rule that to be eligible for IC4 at least 9 months should have been passed since the graduation. So I was interviewed for an IC3 role (did not had any interviews at the time) and received the following offer Base - $139k Stocks - $150k over 4 yrs Sign on - $18k Now I also have an offer for Associate SWE at Goldman Sachs (TC - $125k). I am confused whether to take IC3 or not as I am confident that I would be able to clear IC4 interview as well. So I am thinking of taking GS and interview again with Meta for IC4 (in Sept-Oct). Is it worth joining as IC3 and getting promoted to IC4? According to my research the TC of a new joiner is more at IC4 than of a person being promoted to IC4. What should I do? #meta #tech #offer
You won't be able to interview at Meta for 12 months, and then you can't be sure to get another offer. 200k vs 135k should be a pretty quick question for you to answer
Experience in India doesn’t count if you just graduated here
You can get promoted quickly
Meta feedback stays in the system for 12 months. So you’d have to wait a year anyway. It’s better to just join and get promoted quickly. You can totally get promoted in a year, assuming the review cycles align.
"I am confident that I would be able to clear IC4 interview as well" I have done 100s of interviews at Meta and I can tell, you can't even guarantee to pass IC3 again. That's not how it works. A lot depends on who interviews you, market, funnel at the time etc.
IC3 to 4 promos are the easiest. You just push lots of code and code reviews and show that you can deliver your work showing eagerness to get more responsibility. Boom IC4 in 6-12mo tops
Take Meta E3
Don’t worry about title. Meta is a better place for SWE, plus higher comp makes this a no brainer.
Join meta. Within 2 years, you will be making far more at Meta than gs, no question.
Join Meta and try to get promoted fast, also make it a poll.
