Congrats on a new debt financing, definitely a smart way not to dilute its employee stock options. Couple weeks back there was noise on 10% layoffs at the company, an unfortunate event but this one is definitely a good news for DO employees. Its not clear if its total 300M till date or this round was 300M debt either way its a good news and a step closer to an IPO event. #digitalocean https://techcrunch.com/2020/02/20/digitalocean-raises-100m-in-debt-as-it-scales-towards-revenue-of-300m-profitability/ TC 450K YOE 15 plus
not quite good. i like DO but why you didn't raise from a VC to increase their valuation before doing IPO?
They are a multi billion valuation private company. Raising private financing won’t help their valuation. Scaling their revenue and growing multiples will. Debt can help make that happen
Also I heard from VC friend that when few firms are raising VC money some of is debt anyhow it’s just we don’t know or hear of it .
