I wouldn’t be surprised if this tanked morale at Microsoft. It’s disheartening to hear about all of the great success your company is having while you’re making peanuts and not even to afford your bills. I experienced this at MRM, and I can only imagine how our friends at Microsoft are feeling right now. TC: 105K

Attrition is negligible so Msft does not care
That's because the job market is really bad right now. When it improves you will see a lot of people leaving. VMware froze pay and cut everyone's bonus back in 2020. When the job market recovered in 2021 there was massive attrition. My product team had about 110 employees and 80% left.
Job market was great in 2022. Still low attrition
Demo was not completely faked, it had a lot of prompts driving it, what seemed like AI was in fact manually crafted behavior. It was definitely misleading to demo it without clearly mentioned the prompts used, giving an illusion it’s smarter than GPT.
Stfu, Leetcode and leave. No one gives a shit. Unless there is an exodus, you will whine, and they will wine & dine.
I worked at Microsoft for a while, really loved it. That said getting paid peanuts for so long eventually wears you down, but in the end there was very little pressure at the company to perform, so it was easy to get away with working half days. It’s life, everyone I know at MSFT is chill, gets some work done when they feel like it but isn’t worried about getting fired. There will never be a mass exodus because this is understood by the company and by the employees. I switched, doubled (even maybe tripled at this point) my TC but was also very stressed out for my ramp up period. Basically ride the MSFT chill train until you’re bored.

Unfortunately that's a double edged sword, whilst your chances of being pip's is low, Microsoft know there's plenty of efficiency gains if they need to please shareholders, meaning more mass lay offs are never far away
The pettiness on both sides is at an all-time high.
