Consulting job vs. fintech job for a career in tech

Hi all, I am user researcher trying to transition into the IT industry here in the UK. A few days ago I received a job offer from Capgemini and I accepted, but now it turns out that I it seems I will receive another job offer from Wise (ex-Transferwise). My goal has always been to transition into the tech product world, so I'm wondering which position would be better for that. Capgemini is a consulting company in IT, and Wise is fintech. Both positions would pay roughly the same (around 75K British pounds), but I hope someone can give me some advice for on what you would do given the choice. #tech #fintech #capgemini #Wise #transferwise

I have not seen either of the envs, but Wise would definitely have a more modern tech stack, better perks and a more recognizable name on the CV. Capgemini is, meh, you will see a lot of clients' systems etc it is interesting in a way but I wouldnt choose it over a leading fintech.

Good points. My goal is to get a senior position at FAANG a few years down the road, so this makes a lot of sense. Thank you for your input.

Wise has a much larger chance for FAANG than Capgemini. Even JPM has become "eligible" for FAANG recently (think they ran out of candidates).

Wise sounds like a much better name to have in the CV, specially if the roles are similar. I interviewed with them and they seem like a cool company to be in. I’m sure they have lots of UI, project, and Backend opportunities.

If it is a better name in the CV, that will matter a lot for future career development. Thank you for the input.
