Non tech companies usually have an army of contractors. Even within msft, some tech teams have lots of vendors and consultants. If you work in a team with lots of vendors, the company would target them first before you? I have also heard of companies replacing fte with contractors too TC:165K
Agreed with SAP. Contractors couldnt care less about what they produced a year down the line.
Neither do FTE’s when they switch teams/companies every year
@Amazon I disagree. As FTE i take ownership of the product regardless of how long i stay there. Cause i dictate what needs to be done. But as a contractor i care less cause i am told what to do Source: worked as contractor and FTE
Contractors give companies resource flexibility. In previous Microsoft layoffs many, but not all, contractors were released ahead of FTE cuts.
Contractors in India are hired as replacement for FTE layoffs in the US. Contractors in the US office fired before FTEs
That explains a lot. That's why this place is the way it is (not SAP).
At c1 contractors will go before FTEs.
Do you forecast C1 will layoff contractors soon?
Probably not, it sounds like they were expecting an economic downturn.
I'm seeing the same. Some companies are trying to course correct but the lack of institutional knowledge and brain drain over the years isn't something that can be fixed easily. Honestly you don't want to be at a place like that, it's dumpster 🔥 fire. You're basically talking about rebuilding from smoldering embers and ashes. Good luck putting the pieces together.
