My brother's coworker just returned from a family trip to China and voluntarily arranged to WFH for the next two weeks. There is no WFH policy enforced at the company for people who have visited China, where the virus is spreading quickly. The company did halt business trips to Asia though. Facebook has officially asked its employees to WFH for 14 days if they have traveled through China. I've heard other companies are taking similar measures and some haven't taken any at all. Is your company taking actions to address the coronavirus?? Location: SF
Unlimited WFH for Chinese workers only.
Racists.
Google also asks workers returning from China to WFH for two weeks
My coworker just announced she is going to China on vacation. I didn’t want to be rude but she really needs to stay home and away from her coworkers when she returns. I’ll find that Google communication and forward it to her.
Yeah my friend, save yourself— be rude! Wear a mask!
I have a few team members in China and I am worried they will come back :(
My wife's company has a conference coming up and overseas employees are scheduled to attend, except those from China. My wife and her team are relieved, but they are also concerned for their coworkers. The company is actually setting up donations for people who are affected by the virus.
Word of advice. Make sure the donations are going to the affected directly and not through a 3rd party. Cases of donation “mismanagement” are rampant in China, case in sample where there was a huge fund raising effort for the earthquake back in 2008 and very little of the funds actually went to the families.
Lets just use a simple word: corruption.
Doesn’t coronavirus have a long latency period anyway
That is unknown, at this time. The incubation period is anywhere from 1-14 days. How much of that time you are contagious is also unknown.
*The more you know* (Insert rainbow here)
This is a whole lot of nothing.
I’ve been coughing hard in front of my manager so that i’d get to wfh
My colleague who sits next to me is flying back from China on Monday. It's either him working remotely 3 weeks or me.
Lol it should probably be him. Even if you WFH for three weeks he could get other people sick and potentially other people and maybe eventually you
Amazon's policy only makes people WFH only if they are traveling from critical region of Hubei not Beijing area. So no it's going to be me.
Amazon has banned work travel to China unless you have L8 approval
Lol! Because, as we all know, L8s are immune to the CV!
^ read it again.
