After 5 years of being a fully paid prime member, I decided to pull the plug on Amazon retail. I thought Costco would deliver more value to me and signed up as an executive member. The nearest costco is 8.5 miles away. Since I WFH, I am not driving as much and don't think cheap gas is that big a benefit. After being a paid costco member for 1.5 months, I think I made a mistake switching to costco from prime. I am single and also price/quality wise there isn't just enough value to drive 17 miles up and down. Amazon offers fresh 2 hour grocery delivery in my area. Not just the economics, there is 40 minute driving effort plus 10 mins parking bullshit. Amazon offers 5% cash back ( I have prime rewards card) compared to Costco (4% - 2% Costco plus 2% bofa cash rewards on whole sale) Thoughts?? #tech #retail
I just have to say.. I need to learn to care about money as much as you do 🙌
You can order online from Costco
There is at least a 10-15 % markup online and slower delivery.
Two are completely different products!
They don’t replace each other, totally separate use cases. What is better orange or scissors?
Orange scissors.
this is easy - orange is much better than scissors
Just get a job at amazon for free prime + TC or GTFO
I don't know how you came to the conclusion than one can replace the other. Side note: Costco executive is effectively <= 60$: you get cash back on all your Costco purchases. At the end of year they write you a check of the accumulated cash back, with a minimum of 60$.

Sure, not trying to convince you to have Costco membership. Just saying it's only 60$/y. Also if you want to save money you could check their auto insurance. You get a good discount with executive membership. Maybe that's worth it for you even without shopping there at all
Costco can be $60 flat, why are you paying $120 if you don't even go and utilize the benefits. 120 gives you 2% back but to make the $60 you need to spend at least $3000 in a year. I'd just get the $60, and my yearly fuel savings gets me more than that, so worth it.
I spend at least 3000$. Amazon offers me 5% cash back
If you don't use Costco, they send you a check
Guys making $300k plus per year debating $120, have both the membership if you use it
Old habits die hard. I come from a low income household in India where 4 people used to live on 1 income in a tier 2 city.
Excuses, excuses...
it's a two-way door, just switch back if you don't see the value
Don't want to be seen as one of those return policy abusers
Op you’re overthinking this, just do what suits you, both Costco and Amazon are too big to really care if you cancel a subscription
