The coworker is a L4 and resigned. The team is very new and our sprint planning is a total train wreck, and it stresses him out. Should I stick around for a while because of my high visibility high impact project or jump out to other teams as soon as I can? I’m also very new. Thoughts?
Org?
Can’t really say which one because I’m pretty sure I’ll be identified
Depends on what level you are on. If he foresaw something that you're missing. It would be a good idea to switch or resign. That being said, If you have analyzed everything and see this as a challenge and could turn this to an opportunity, just keep pushing. All the best.
I’m L5. I’m also very stressed but I’m younger and don’t have a family to look after so I can easily say I’m gonna focus on work. But we all feel stressed out that’s for sure. It’s hard for me to justify the impact and promo I’m seeking vs stress I’m taking.
Going by your reply, I feel you already have a made up your mind to bounce and just need a nudge. Sometimes you gotta prioritize your mental health. I think you should switch teams internally or just move to a different company, if that's possible. So start interviewing.
What is L4 SDE? SDE1 ?
Don’t trust an L4 SDE’s evaluation. Make your own judgement. Newer teams struggle with some processes early on but have lots of growth opps. If you trust your management, their experience, and like the product - stay around. If not, switch.
Could also be that he had an offer come through late from his interviewing before he accepted the Amazon offer.
Do you get blacklisted if you leave after only a few weeks?
What nonsense is this, it's always day 1. You shall be PIPed.
