I'll do like 3 or 4 tasks per 2 week sprint and I feel like I'm not being used at full capacity. The main limitation is that people won't review my code. Other people in the team have one task they don't even finish in a sprint and keep pushing out for months. I understand that some things take longer, but these are things I definitely could have finished in a sprint. TC 200k
bro ur at qualcomm enjoy it
Weāre just blocked.
It means your coworkers are disengaged. Theyāre probably looking for new jobs. If your manager is engaged, they will be rotated out of the team soon enough.
My team is the same. Manager couldnt do shit about these slackers so asked me to come in to lead them and clean up the mess. They āresearchedā a new tech for 6 months with no outputs and I figured it out in a week and started delivering results within 2 weeks after. I just want to pip all these slackers but somehow they managed to just live by. It is quite annoying but so far I am not blocked by any of them or I just found work around that I dont need their help to be unblocked. If I could choose teammate then I will avoid these at all cost. Manager realizes this so I just ignore them and show my leadership to motivate them do the same
What level are you? If you see a problem you should propose a solution, saying that you are failing bc of other doesn't help anything. Bring it up during team meeting, create a butterfly bot that pings a person on team if diff is stale, setup existing stale diff tooling for your codebase, etc... I had same issue on my team but now it's resolved with a few meetings and 1-2 sprints to setup a process that works for our team.
I recently got promoted to Senior Engineer (although there is some title inflation compared to other companies). People are already getting reminders 2 times per week that they have code to review and they just ignore it (part of the onboarding procedure was to send all the bot emails to a junk folder). I also bring it up in every meeting, and they say they will do it today and then don't. I feel like the problem is me and that I must just care too much. People do stuff eventually, it just might take several months for something that I felt could have happened in a day. I ask people if they need help. I have plenty of free time to provide help. They say no, they just need some more time to look into it.
Twice a week? Lol, i have so much code to review, I get pinged every day multiple time for new code to review, if you send me a reminder once or twice a week only, il assume it's not as important as those pinging me twice a day, hence lower priority
Enjoying life
I'd love to support that goal, but can you take 5 minutes to review my code please?
Sorry Iām not near my computer.
