Worked at a FAANG before oracle cloud. Trying to interview now and getting rejections because I didn’t do well on Leetcode hards. I’m solving the hards them but I still get rejected for insufficient coding skills because my algo complexity isn’t good enough. Can someone help me understand what this is about? Practice harder? It's just smug engineers wanting to smack you in the face with their giant e peener because it gets them off.
Market is bad due to interest rates.
Unless you get extremely lucky and come across a job where the team is exactly looking for a candidate with skills like you, they won’t be lenient on coding interviews now-a-days.
Somebody help me understand this, earlier this year when I was interviewing at top startups in AI / ML space, literally no one was asking LC hards, couple easy to solve mediums then mostly applied takehomes. Who are conducting these interviews lmao?? At Riot we do a pretty easy prescreen LC and then take home (game of life) but our system design is very demanding.
What makes the system design very demanding, I am preparing for interview and want to know more.
For backend you really need to know the entire stack, e.g: different OSI protocols, explain in detail how auth works, understand database implementation details, and leverage all this info in your design solution explaining tradeoffs. tldr - for every box in your design, dig deep and explain how it works with specific implementation references. Its very hard to do this interview very well if you havent actually built out systems E2E since we dig deeper than most system designs in my experience. Disclaimer this interview varies across orgs and roles. For gameplay engineers itll be very different.
What did you move to Oracle cloud in the first place?
Why not? There’s great opportunities everywhere
Is Oracle hiring ? How’s your experience at Oracle?
I had the same struggle for months. It’s just because there are thousands of laid off engineers and also miserable engineers trying to leave their role ever since it got shitty (like mine) so companies know they can keep interviewing until they find the magical “perfect” candidate
This makes a bunch of sense. Thank you
I was especially annoyed at a role which I was perfect for in terms of background experience but the first phone screen had a coding question I hadn’t seen before, I made some progress on it and gave a working code but the optimal code, got the ML questions all right, still rejection. Was pretty annoying

Oracle pays so much..wow.. pmts?
It did! But now it’s $300k was what i was told.
What a noob answer! Oracle pay varies widely. In my opinion, Oracle salaries are great for good engineers. And bad for average engineers. A lot of them make a lot more than engineers at FAANG. There are a lot of them that make nothing comparable. TC : 800K for IC4
Go to a small startup. They probably won’t have a very hard coding interview.
Not true, 3 hard LC out of 4 rounds in Fathom health.
Not true. Startups have really hard technical interviews because they barely hire anyone. They’ll eventually find someone who believes in the the shitty company and can pass their interviews
Insanity!
