What's the best credit card for a family travel? Parents + kids Our annual travel budget would be: 6-8k in flights 4-5k in hotels 1-3k in rental cars 5k at restaurants including while at home Total: 15-20k in travel each year With travel restricted during last 2.5 years we mostly just used our Costco credit card. 3% in all of the categories listed above. I've wondered if it is worth getting something like CSR/CSP or Capital One Venture X given they restrict to booking only via their website for redeeming. I know you could transfer CSR/CSP to partner airlines 1:1. But I've often found cheapest hotels and rental cars in Costco website as opposed to Chase or Capital ones own sites. What card would you recommend to a family? #pto #vacation #travel
^ + run ur spend #’s and see how much value in rewards
Amex Platinum or Chase Sapphire Reserve. Customer service is super good for both of them. I just reap more value from Amex so I continue to use the Platinum for everything
what u spend MR on? personally found them harder to use than UR
Doesn't amex give you 5x on travel vs 10x from Chase? Are MR worth more than UR?
Amex platinum has amazing perks.
CSP - 80k points promo. Amex Plat if you get the 150K sign up bonus. Annual fee inflation for Plat and CSR has gotten out of control. UR worth more than other options, esp with 50% trvl bonus with CSR (25% bonus with CSP)
dang brah how u get 150k

Amex platinum +1. It gives you credit for global entry, tsa precheck, clear. Great for traveling with kids. Streaming credit can be used for Disney, Hulu subscription. Airline credit refund can be used for baggage, change fees, upgrade, etc. Annual fine hotel credit gives me an excuse to splurge on luxury hotels. Use Uber credit for takeouts. MR points are just as useful. I've used them to fly internationally multiple times with ANA & UA. A lot of these flights can be booked from partner airline websites. Ps: I don't book hotels with points. Like you said, hotel websites have better deals. I use points to fly.
Makes sense. Thank you. What's the fine hotel credit? I didn't see it on the amex platinum home page
It's $200 hotel credit per year when you book a hotel in their Fine hotel collection. It also comes with free breakfast, early check in and late checkout. I love these benefits especially when traveling with kids!
On top of everything others mentioned, if have a corporate Amex card, you get $150 off plat and $100 off annual fees.
Check out svonbudget.com You will need hotel cards for free stays. Airline cards for free flights. Hotels will invite you for discounted timeshare presentation trips. Cards provide gas discounts , dining discounts.
Also look at Capital One Venture X.
