Cruise is going to have a lot of different roles. Are you working directly on the autonomy stack? There ML theory may be fair game. Are you working on embedded or on vehicle software? Low level c mastery may be fair game. Are you building tools for fleet management and operations? Then standard backend engineering will be the focus. At other autonomy companies I’ve generally seen: 2 coding rounds, a design round, and a specialist round depending on the role (autonomy / perception / whatever). The design round is often also tailored to the specialization. I’d practice all the standard stuff like leetcode and mocks with sites like PracticeCodingInterview.com + spend 70% of your time prepping for any specialization if it’s not a pure backend eng team. Do note — autonomy is a new specialization so for the most part they’ll be looking for mastery of transferable skills.
Does Cruise hire for specific job openings?
