Cruise rescinded offer
I hadnt even started working there because of visa, but now they just called me they had to rescind offer for business reasons :( How’s waymo doing btw? What about other self driving companies? Assuming most are just burning cash - any worried about running out of cash any time soon? Are you all on hiring freeze now? I really enjoy working in the robotics field but now I’m very sad :( SWE / ~2YOE / comp irrelevant now lol

With lots of teams getting headcounts cut, it’s either lay-off or rescinding offers, or both

Sorry to hear. Given the 8% lay-off though rescinding offer is hardly surprising. OP said this is visa related? Are you able to get it or is it just slow due to COVID? I’d imagine lots of people impacted by COVID in various ways but sounds extra hard on people without a status.
Didn’t get selected in lottery. We were going to try another visa type tho...
