I hate my f***** life
I verbally accepted an offer from Apple [non-tech/marcom] and working in the Cupertino office. Relocation is eventually required. So, I am starting to look for places to live. Factors that matter: -Being able to live around other Black and brown people (neighborhood/city doesn't need to be exclusively or predominantly Black/brown). -Close to the Apple Shuttle by walking or public transportation -Commute time under 90 minutes each way, most days -Moderately priced housing ($2.5-3.5k/mo) -Relatively safe. I've lived in Brooklyn/Manhattan and DTLA/Inglewood in the past. I'm also open to any relocation tips / watch-outs. Thanks :D
Do you want to live near black people or brown people ? Cuz it can be very different .
💯
☝🏻
I live in SF and the shuttle commute is close to 80min to my neighborhood, it’d probably be over 90 to get to Oakland where there’s a larger Black/brown community.
Thank you. This is super helpful. I could only see pockets of commute times for driving in from Oakland neighborhoods, but nothing about the Apple Shuttle. Do you know where the Oakland shuttle stops are?
You can also look at living in the east bay - alameda county- areas like Fremont.
Congrats on the offer, What was the position? And what is the comp breakdown?
Thank you!
They’re going to be really cagey with the shuttle stops. You should just get an Airbnb somewhere for your first month in the area and scope out where you like and how the shuttles work for you before you make a lease signing commitment. Everyone I know who moved to this area and did this doesn’t regret it! Especially in San Francisco, the vibe can vary a LOT from block to block.
Thank you for the suggestions. I was fortunately able to get more details about the commute situation, especially after starting. Things are looking good 🙌🏾
Total comp???
