Curious about Intel

Honestly asking, how is Intel able to sustain its employees and the number of campuses? Process aside, It's technology behind a few generations for most of the money making products... too many product froups... TC 330k

Intel sms075 Aug 29, 2023

You think you are better than us ? 😀

Intel fXQn34 Aug 29, 2023

Softbank has f'd ARM

ARM 🐝sel🐟 OP Aug 29, 2023

I don't disagree about SoftBank... But, @sms - yeah I think so. Maybe not as good as a lot of other companies, but definitely compared to Intel! I've been at Intel! Seen how they handle (rather dump) the projects a day before stepping! How they cling to their very few successful products How they have been doing layoffs under the rug for the past 9 years! It's just my opinion.. not necessarily the truth. So please enlighten me.

Large amounts of accumulated capital. There's a whole business entity called Intel Capital.

ARM 🐝sel🐟 OP Aug 29, 2023

That's the thing.. they have capital. How long is it going to sustain?!

Amazon Gmop12 Aug 29, 2023

A very long time. They have the assets and wherewithal. Even if they spun off their foundry business in desperation, they would make bank.

Fab is growing. Teams being created. Labs stood up. There is some runway there….for now…

ARM 🐝sel🐟 OP Aug 29, 2023

It's supposed to be the saving grace. But churning a lot of money there

Broadcom Ltd. CovidTan Aug 29, 2023

Do you read financial statements? They are still generating stupid amount of money.

ARM 🐝sel🐟 OP Aug 29, 2023

Well revenue is going down by the year afaik! But sure I'll look into it

Broadcom Ltd. CovidTan Aug 29, 2023

It is going down but the # of employees also went down so this should have answered your question…..

Microsoft BulkyHard Aug 29, 2023

Smart people already left. The rest are either politicians, old timer slackers, or pigeonholed.

Intel gLss47 Aug 30, 2023

That is a pretty bold statement to make based on a sample size of how many employees out of the 100k?

Microsoft BulkyHard Aug 30, 2023

Around 500-1000? Involved in hiring at different companies, and every HM hates ex-Intel. Consensus is that they are trained to push a button of some Intel tool and don't know much beyond that. Not familiar with new industrial knowledge or even acronyms. Most cannot pass HM round and it's a waste of time.

Many green ARM engineers think the way you do. Intel’s revenue is around 60+ billion. ARM’s revenue is about 2 billion. And x86 is not going to disappear
