I am a new grad (2022 graduation) and have an offer from DE Shaw India. I liked the culture there, but the work in my team involved tech that is not so new. It wasn't very challenging either. So I guess learning wise it isn't the best choice. I do not have any other offers right now, although there are 8 months before I graduate. Problem solving and leetcode skills are pretty rusty, and have some academic committments for the next few months. Right now I am planning to stay there for 2-3 yrs, get promoted and then LeetCode and switch to a product based company as a senior engineer. Should I join for the pay/culture and then switch to some other company as SDE2? YoE: 0 TC: 29L #tech #india #engineering #software #swe
Your plan sounds right. All the best!
thanks, just needed some assurance!
Unless you are a child tech prodigy, there's enough for you to learn at DE Shaw. 90% of the skills you build will be transferable. Shiny tech comes and goes, but a lot of skills are learnt for life. You can always pick a shiny tech on your own.
that I'm definitely not xD your answer makes a lot of sense, thanks! i have seen many contradictory opinions from people, so was worried. i guess some people are just too talented, or wanna make everything a rat race. Thanks for a sane advice!
