Hey folks, scheduled an interview with D.E. Shaw for an internship position, as the email stated that it would be some E.T time zone, but I am based in London, is this casual? Because from my experiences, those interviwer who came from financial industries seems don't like to show up, and usually late for 10+ minutes. For this one, the interviewer just even skipped. Is this normal? Or just the way it is in financial industry?
Just talk to your recruiter and ask to reschedule it. No idea about DE Shaw specifically but I certainly have meetings go over frequently. Could also have been paged for a prod incident, hard to speculate. If I had a candidate interview after a meeting I would communicate a hard stop to leave because it’s unprofessional, but maybe because you’re an intern they didn’t care as much. Only the recruiter can tell you
yeah will do, heart broke as an intern :(
No, an intern interview is no less important than a regular FTE interview (if not more since you don't want college grads to get a bad image about your company or the industry in general)
I guess the guy was a No Shaw
Maybe you lacked the English skills to understand the start time? Communication matters mate.
You Australian ?
yeet, I am Irish.
