Currently a DE and come from a non CS background. My title is DE but my manager has moved me to do full reporting BI Developer work. My manager just reached out to me recently if I wanted to transition into DBA in my company, there will be slight compensation increase but it feels like a stressful job with many on-calls. Seems like the job opportunities for DBA also declining? I really love data engineering but I hate my current BI development work (just help business to build reports and no pipeline work). What’s everyone’s advice on my situation? TC 90k

It is a blessing…
I recommend being a DE, but seems you are asked to BI work. Try to get more work on data engg i.e. pipelines, orchestration, etc. than UI based reporting.
I love being a DE but my team doesn’t have any date Eng work, just BI work. And I hate BI Work :(
