A voice assistant is just one small feature of the Metaverse getting built. There seems to be an order of magnitude disconnect between how these companies build software.
Timing matters as well. 10 yrs ago, voice assistance was in its infancy. Just like the metaverse is now. Compared to now, when 10k for just voice assistance seems wasteful. It might look the same for metaverse 15 yrs from now
This ramp to 10k was in 2017/2018. It is probably more than 10k at this point.
Yes, that’s because Amazon factors in how many people they will be putting on PIP lol 😆
When you build a house, do you send the carpenters, painters, and plumbists all at once? Or do you first get someone to build the foundation?
Comparing apples and oranges. Conversational AI as a technology is very different from building an AR world. Not saying one needs more resources than another - but different things my friends.
But the metaverse also contains a voice assistant.
I strongly believe that Meta is taking a "if-you-build-it-they-will-come" approach
Hiring bar is vastly different too.
Where did they say they’re hiring 10k? How many they got now?
I am sure a lot of those 10000 workers were for data curating and labeling.
Will that not be needed for a metaverse with augmented reality features?
