Hi All, I just got verbal offer from Qualcomm SD location in DV for senior staff. Edit: I really did not negotiate anything on the base or RSU. This were the initial numbers given by HR. I was so surprised and shocked that I got senior staff that just did not want to stretch this any further….only thing I did ask was for a Sign on bonus ( I told HR all folks get anywhere from 35 k to 60 k sign on bonus so a decent sign on would be good.) not sure if I would get that… Base: 184.5 k RSU: 125 k/3 Relocation: 5k No Sign on yet and, I have Requested for the same. HR said it depends upon approval and, she will try for it as it depends on team budget… I expected to be offered only Staff and, so in a state of shock as how they offered me Senior staff with 8 yrs experience…#hardware #semiconductor #qualcomm #qualcommlife #qualcommsalary Location: San Diego MS+ 8 yrs Current TC: 145 k.
Yea this is unusually high for 8 yoe exp at Qcom.. did u ace the interview?
Yaa it went well and got good feedback from the team. But still did not expect this by any means…. Also it took close to 5 weeks for them to respond With an acceptance offer 😊 I thought probably I would be a reject or they have chosen some other candidate already as it took so much time…

Qualcomm, US is desperate for people because barely anyone decent wants to join it these days. 20 offers were made in my org in last 3 months and only 1 person accepted/joined. I know couple of people with 12 yoe who were given offers for Prinicipal Engineer and they still didnt take it.
Why but? Why people not joining qcom even with good pay and position like principal engineer?
Was it RTL, DV or system?

My worry is now hope this offer gets the Approval. HR told me this offer is contingent on Approval. I hope some higher up VP does not object to my offer as I have got senior staff at 8 years….
Hello All, HR came back to me today with this. This is really weird. Sorry my username got changed I am the original OP. Due to the classification of the job family, we need VP approval. Upon further review, your background aligns to Staff versus Sr. Staff therefore, your offer would be as outlined below. This is what the offer would be contingent upon approvals: Title: Engineer, Staff Base: $168,900 RSU: $75,000 How can they down level me suddenly like this ? They should not have given false promises earlier right. I wonder where this is coming from suddenly….
Did you try negotiating when you already had an out of band offer ?
I just asked for a sign on that’s it. I think I don’t how the things work at QC I guess this goes through compensation team of HR for Approvals or something ? May be in that they kind of checked my years of experience and kind of realigned it ? I am surprised then how come initially the HR came up with senior staff in the first place… Qualcomm folks please offer more insights into this. Thanks…
