I spend countless hours helping my ICs with their code/feature/presentations. Sometimes literally reshape/rewrite their work. Yet when it’s done, they get all the accolades while I get a thank you footnote. Happy for them but can’t help feeling a little heavy inside. Direct manager knows what I do, but skips don’t, how do I make myself more visible?
It is in fact a thankless job. Do you do product reviews with Prod and Eng leadership? Do you have a Product launch channel or a recognize channel? These are a few ways to get your name out there even more.
I have never had my manager help with code, unless they were an IC themselves or just transitioned to management. Sounds like your role might be poorly defined or you’re working outside the boundaries of it
You get paid a lot too
No, you look good if your team looks good
