I am not a data analyst or even in Tech but I see alot of young people (including foreign students) doing masters in Data Analytics and learning SQL, Python, R and Tableau, etc etc. Just wondering why so many people choose this route as it seems saturated and doesn’t look like there will be as much of a need or demand for these type of roles in the future. Thoughts???
You're right it is completely over saturated. The main reason is that it's technically fairly accessible and has been hyped by the media. There are a lot of online learning tools and masters available. It's much easier at the technical level than some embedded software or any lower level software.
I dont think its quite as saturated as you think. Its actually quite difficult to find competent DA/DE/DS
As far as business roles go it can be more fun while still lightly touching the technical aspects. Pay is decent too. Better than accounting
While that might be true, I see alot of young people who are in that field having a tough time finding a job. Also, what is the future of this profession as AI will wipe out alot of the need for them?
It's a good stepping stone into DE, pays the bills, and definitely won't be in the first wave to get automated out. Speaking of AI taking over jobs, most people haven't given that thought yet. Eventually it even replaces bottom 90% of engineers
