Location doesn’t matter that much. It’s a new grad position, and my ultimate goal is to learn as much as possible and probably career jump in the future. Which one should I pick? HPE - Data sci. Deloitte - AI/ML applied sci. Future plan - AIML engineer
go to the valley to meet people and get out within 2 years
I work in a co-office with Deloitte. If you thought people at Amazon were brain dead, wait till you meet a delloittion.
Lmao
🥲
Taught a course to Deloitte data scientists, they had absolutely no AI/ML knowledge and barely any data science knowledge. The managers I met were clueless about the tech industry and had consulting backgrounds.
who cares he'll have the title
Deloitte is absolute trash for anything related to software
Absolute trash, period
keep interviewing. real options you have are between working for a dinosaur or working in detroit. both yuck. keep interviewing.
Detroit + Deloitte is a career suicide move. Not saying HPE is a much better in tech but at least it was a decent tech company and you are in Bay Area with access to other tech opportunities. Legit AI/ML Eng opportunities are mostly in Bay and Seattle.
in consulting everybody is a number:”utilization number”
90k to an applied scientist 😂😂
Also with recent layoffs. Many consultants are not working on any active AI/ML coding projects. They do these non-technical “firm initiatives” which is basically selling and creating pretty power points. As others stated go to HPE for long term upsides.
90k in Detroit will take you way further than 114k in San Jose. But there are much better opportunities in San Jose longer term.
