Data Scientist contract at Microsoft

I'm joining a contract position through a vendor at Microsoft, in Redmond WA. I'm also interviewing for FB DS Analytics position, but its postponed to September because of Visa issues (apparently I have to wait to get H1, as they dont take OPTs with less than 24 months left). Also, got rejected from Amazon BIE level 5 after onsite, as I didn't focus a lot on LP. Will be applying after 6 to 7 months. Changing from Verizon to Microsoft Contract because 1600 employees got laid off (I'm not laid off now, but surely will be in April). My question is: Will joining Microsoft as a contractor Data Scientist, affect my career in a negative way ? Though I feel I am qualified to be a FTE DS. Please provide your opinions.
