Hey everyone! I’ve been reading through blind, reddit, etc, and most people make it look like the on-site for Data Science @ Google is like qualifying for the stats/ML olympics, is this true? I have scheduled the on-site in a few weeks and wanted to check whether I should go deep into the darkest corners of stats and learn how everything is built from scratch or just review with common sense some of the main topics and that’s it. Any thoughts/recommendations? TC: 150k YoE: 8
Yes. And underpaid. SWEs are the stars in this company, go SWE, you only need to drill leetcode.
Hahah yeah, I might seriously consider it if the DS on-site doesn’t go well.
Google has a data scientist role? What ladder does it go in?
They do, apparently it’s independent from engineering but that’s all I know right now.
Quantitative analyst ladder I think. Basically, statisticians.
